Maintenance To Follow:

Once your sod has firmly rooted and become established, it becomes vital to properly care for and maintain your new lawn. The following recommendations serve as general guidelines and should be adjusted according to weather and soil conditions. Keep in mind that every irrigation system is unique, so you should tailor your watering practices to match your specific watering system.



Properly watering your newly sodded lawn is the most crucial step in its establishment. We suggest the following watering schedule: In April through May and mid-September through October, water three times a week for 20 minutes, either in the early morning before 6 AM or in the late evening after 7 PM. From June through mid-September, increase watering to four times a week for 20-25 minutes during the same early morning or late evening time slots.

Remember that an effective watering regimen is the key to maintaining a beautiful and healthy lawn in Colorado’s dry climate.

You can start mowing your lawn approximately 4 weeks following installation. Be cautious not to trim more than one-third of the blade height in a single mowing session. Trimming too much at once can lead to shock, an unattractive appearance, and increased vulnerability to disease.

During the growing season, we advise mowing your lawn 1-2 times per week. When growth is slowed due to heat or drought, once every week and a half is sufficient. Maintaining a grass height of 2 to 3 inches is recommended.

After your sod has become established, our recommendation is to fertilize it 4 times annually using a well-balanced fertilizer. We suggest the following dates for fertilization: April 1st, June 1st, August 1st, and October 1st.

For those opting for a semi-annual fertilization schedule, consider applying fertilizer in both the spring and fall. However, if your goal is to maintain a lush, green lawn from spring through the fall, we advise fertilizing four times a year: in early spring, late spring, late summer, and mid-fall.

To effectively address thatch buildup and soil compaction, it is advisable to schedule aeration twice a year in spring and early September.
